For Fourth of July weekend, I decided to join two of my girlfriends on the first leg of their road trip to Nashville, Tennessee. Places that we’ve dropped by were Lake Havasu, Sedona, Scottsdale, and Pheonix.
While eating in Sedona, our waitor suggested hiking Devil’s Bridge, a 8 mile trail right off FR124. After Googling the location, we were determined to get there.
Driving into the canyon was an inquisitive feeling. I was stepping into a world that is unlike the city I have grown accustomed to. The earthly colors was a sight to see. The red boulders clashed with the bright blue sky like an exaggerated painting. I stopped at several points of the trail because I was in awe of what I was seeing. The uphill, rocky tread towards the end of the trail was slightly tough. However, the views at the end of the trail made every step worth it.
At the end of the trail bestowed upon us was the majestic Devil’s Bridge–a rock constructed into an elevated arch. Standing in the center of the bridge, which stands at a whomping 5,000 feet, was like performing a death defying stunt. Being within nature while being enclosed by towering red rocks was nothing short of a euphoric experience.
I felt that this trip came at the perfect time because I was going through a rough situation in my life. I wanted to get away from it all. When I was approached by this opportunity, it seemed too good to pass up. Nothing can be more therapuatic than sharing a unique experience with friends who you care about. Although I knew my problems would remain once I came back, the experience of seeing a world so big made my problems seem so small. I returned from my trip ready to start a new chapter in my life with an optimistic and enlightened state of mind.
