Brunch at Marlowe

This past Sunday, the girls and I got together for our third “Bloggers’ Brunch” gathering. My girlfriend Zoha of Posh to Gonacheorganizes a blogger brunch for Bay Area based bloggers every few months. It’s a great way to catch up with the girls and chat about life and/or anything blog related. We also get to chow down on some amazing food, thanks to Zoha who finds these amazing gems in SF.

Before I continue, please forgive me for my failed version of a bun. I scoped out several Youtube videos on how to acheive a “messy top knot bun” and, for some reason, I never acquire the look that I want. So I bring you this, my tiny topknot, or “swirly Who-ville top knot bun”.

For our brunch we ate at Marlowe on Brannan in the SoMa district. The decor and textile of the restaurant takes on the demeanor of a hometown butcher shop. The bistro is always bustling with customers who either come for their cocktails or delicious burgers. Aside from coming here once before for late night munchies, this is the first time coming to Marlowe for brunch. Just like the previous time that I went there, the brunch did not disappoint.

I decided to get the Dungeness Crab and Shrimp crepe drizzled with hollandaise sauce. It was delicious. Some of the girls decided on the polenta dish, which had my mouth watering. I’ll definitely be ordering that next time. At the end of my meal, I was craving an Affogato. Despite it not being on the menu, the waitor put one together for me. So sweet!

What I wore that day was this gorgeous neck-tie floral dress that I grabbed at Target for $35! The contrast between the black and the pastel flowers caught my eye. The neck tie channels the 70s, an era that is coming back in today’s fashion. To accessorize I added a Rebecca Minkoff bag that compliments the florals, and TopShop pumps that compliments the dark features of my outfit. These triple strap pumps from TopShop has an eclectic twist on the class pump. I could see this going with a variety of outfits from classic to edgy.
