'Galentine's Day' - Justina Vanessa

God bless Amy Poehler and the cast of Parks and Recreation for introducing the world to a holiday (that should be nationally recognized, IMO) called Galentine’s Day! I know what you’re thinking, what the heck is ‘Galentine’s Day’?! For those of you who are not familiar with Leslie Knope, Galentine’s Day is a get together with your gal pals before Valentine’s Day.

Galentine’s Day can be celebrated in which ever way you like. Grab some girls for a night filled with cheese, wine, and Magic Mike, or brunch it out by curating your own mimosa bar and making homemade eggs benedict. Feeling spontaneous? I think karaoke night or laser tag will do the trick.

In all honesty, your girlfriends are the best dates you can ever have. You can eliminate the angst of meeting someone new, not have a filter when you’re conversing, or worry about drinking too much on the first date. And you know you’ll get a follow up text the next morning. But unlike any other regular dinner date with your girlfriends, Galentine’s Day allows you to show your love and appreciation for the friendships that you have, both old and new.

My girlfriends, Kara and Zoha, and I decided to get together for coffee at Wrecking Ball. I was fortunate to have met Kara and Zoha at a Fashion Blogger Event during San Francisco Fashion Week. Kara is the founder of The Whimsy Soul, a fashion, travel and body positivity blog (go Kara!). Zoha founded Posh to Gonache, a blog that covers every girls’ favorite indulgences–fashion, beauty, and desserts!

This is me when I’m with my girlfriends. Crazy face and animated hands. Don’t hate me lol.

After indulging in some mochas and lattes, we made our way down the street and came across a candy shop called Sugarfina. I fell in love with the ambiance and the delicious sweets.
