Have you ever had a moment where you wished you had kept that one article of clothing from 10 years ago because it’s coming back in style? That’s how I feel about overalls right now. Yes, those childhood jumpers that we wore are coming back into the scene. But not just any overalls–overalls with a trendy remix. I’m seeing overalls with distresses, unique washes, and a low cut in the back. I remember seeing Olivia Palermo in a magazine wearing leather overalls with a duster coat and booties, and thinking how chic she looked!
I know what you’re probably thinking: “How do I make overalls look mature and chic?” As I’ve mentioned before, you can grab a pair with a distressed look or a unique wash. Or if you’re more fashion forward, you can pull a Olivia Palermo and go for a pair made with faux leather. Besides the design of the overalls, what you pair the overalls with makes a big difference as well. For instance, wear your overalls with a sheer blouse and a pair of heels to create a femme fatale look. Or wear a bomber jacket and a pair of Air Max to bring some street swag to your look.
Personally, I’m loving the pairing of an off-the-shoulder top with a pair of overalls. I found these army green distressed overalls on ASOS. Because of the color and style was masculine, I wanted to add some feminine assets with a pair of heels and off-the-shoulder crop top. I put these items together for a “spur of the moment” look and I’m quite surprised how well it came together.
I bought a pair of flared overalls and I can’t wait to style those too!
