‘Boyfriend’ Fall Outfit

‘Boyfriend’ fashion is very much in trend this Fall season. If you’re unsure of what ‘boyfriend’ fashion is, it’s everything that is cut and styled in a way that it looks like y

ou snatched something out of your boyfriend’s closet and threw it on. Or in the words, the concept is to make women’s clothing look a bit over-sized. In this outfit, I’m rocking something that you’ll find in every guy’s wardrobe–an oversize button up.

The look first caught my attention when I saw an oversize button-up in the pages of a fashion magazine. The way the blouse would drape off the shoulders because it was “too big” looked so sexy and effortless. As a 5’0″ woman, this look can be hard to pull off. Fortunately, I found a top from Topshop that comes in Petites.

The reason why I love this blouse so much is because of the off the shoulder accent. The blouse buttons up in a way that one side hangs off the side, baring the shoulder. Also, the red stripes is great pop of color.

For the bottoms, I went for a pair of distressed straight leg jeans. When working with silhouettes, one of my golden rules is to minimize one half of the body, NEVER BOTH. For example, if you’re wearing a pair of wide leg pants, make sure to wear something firm fitting on the top. And vice versa. And lastly, I’m wearing one of my favorite heeled mules. I’ve seen a few fashion bloggers wear this exact pair and it was simply love at first sight. The chunky heel, the pointy toe, and the soft light gray suede makes this pair an awesome Fall addition.
