Upon graduating from college with a Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene I started working at local dental practices in Sonoma County. I’d hit a point where I felt I needed a change so I looked into moving to San Francisco. At first I was quite apprehensive. What would a girl like me do in a big city like that? Sprouting from a small town atmosphere, I was accustomed to a quiet social setting. But after thinking about it twice, I decided to give it a try. Besides, you don’t know if you’ll enjoy something unless you try it right? After living in this gorgeous city for about 4 years now, I’m very glad that I made that decision. There’s plenty to see, do, eat, drink, and people to meet! I want to share my experiences with others, so I decided to create a blog. Here you’ll find things that I love from fashion, local eats, travel tips, and much more. I hope ‘Justina Vanessa’ inspires you to travel more, find your personal style, try new things, and, most importantly, become the best version of yourself.
Are you a full-time blogger?
Currently, I work full-time as a dental hygienist and blog part-time. I absolutely love working as a dental hygienist because it allows me to help people on a daily basis. I grew up in a family of nurses, so I knew from a young age that I’d have a profession in the health field. Plus, I’m a huge bio-nerd. But it doesn’t mean I wouldn’t be open to the possibility of blogging full-time in the future!
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Sonoma, a small wine country town located north of San Francisco. It’s an adorable town with amazing wineries and great eats. I try to visit as often as I can. If you need any recommendations on where to go or what to do in Sonoma, feel free to message me.
What’s your ethnicity?
I’m full Cambodian. Both of my parents came to the US to flee the Cambodian genocide that occurred in the 1970s.
What camera do you use?
I shoot with a Canon 6D and switch between a 50mm and a 24-105mm lens. The 24-105mm lens has been my favorite because of its versatility. For my aerial shots, I use my DJI Spark drone.
Who shoots your photos?
Whoever I’m with! Usually it’s my girlfriends or my sister. I adjust the settings, show them how I want the composition to look and have them press the button. I rarely use professional photographers, but when I do I’ll credit them on my blog and Instagram. My favorite photographer to work with is Rachel Radcliffe.
