With 30 just waiting around the corner, (cats out the bag!) I’ve been attentive to preventive skincare now more than ever! Rewind back 6 months and I was a total skincare virgin. I’m talking soap and a bottle of SPF moisturizer. That was the extent of my skincare routine. But as of late I’ve been introduced to masks, toners, anti-aging products, and much more. At first I was overwhelmed by all the products. Was I suppose to use all of these? And how do I find the time? I quickly learned that the answer is “NO.” Skin varies by person, so each woman’s routine is going to be different. The key is finding what works for you and your skin condition.
Regardless of what skin condition you have I think it’s important to use a skincare product that is organic. Organic, by definition, is a product that has been approved by USDA organic standards and produced without the use of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge, or ionizing radiation. I know what you’re thinking: “Oh, that more expensive stuff, right!?” Yes, organic products can be more expensive, and I tend to curve towards generic produce from time to time. But skincare is something you do not want to compromise. This is something that’s going on your skin and you’re banking that it’s going to help you look 21 years old for the rest of your life!
For the past few months I’ve been using Juice Beauty’s Green Apple Brightening Skincare products. The products help even out skin tone and reduce dark spots through the use of malic acid retrieved from organic green apples. I first use the Green Apple Full Strength Peel two times week in the evening after cleansing. The peel helps exfoliate the skin. Afterwards, I use the Age Defying Serum around the eyes and neck, and the Age Defying Moisturizer everywhere else. WARNING: The Green Apple Skincare line is not designed for sensitive skin and rosacea skin.
Still unsure? Here are four benefits to using organic skincare products:
1) Avoid irritation- For ladies with super sensitive skin, the chances you’ll have problems is slim to none. There are no chemicals that will harm the skin.
2) Small eco-footprint – Organic companies practice sustainable manufacturing, which means being gentle to Mother Earth! For example, Juice Beauty makes their boxes from recycled paper.
3) Artificial smell – Many people, like my mother, are very sensitive to smells. Organic products are free of artificial fragrances; much gentler on the nose!
4) It’s healthier – You guys may have not thought of skin this way, but skin is a large body organ that absorbs! The skin absorbs 60% of what is placed on the skin. Whatever it takes from the outside can affect what happens in the inside. Many chemical ingredients that are commonly used in beauty products can be toxic to the skin and the body. Juice Beauty prides itself of giving you organic and healthier alternatives, therefore giving you the cleanest skincare products possible. For example, instead of using Benzoyl peroxide (a chemical that is currently being banned in Europe for toxicity), Juice Beauty uses salicylic acid for organic fruit juice, which combats acne.
