With it’s picturesque ocean views and clear blue skies, it’s a no brainer why Big Sur has became a top summer destination for world travelers. But not only world travelers have been taking advantage of this astounding area, Big Sur has became a getaway for San Franciscans trying to escape the city grind. Upon discovering that it’s only a 2 hour drive South, I’m disappointed that I haven’t traveled to this destination sooner.
During my stay, I wanted to stop by Big Sur’s must see destinations (according to TripAdvisor lol): Bixby Bridge, McWay Falls, Pfeiffer Beach, 17 mile drive. Each location was gorgeous.
What I wore: Forever 21 dress (similar, similar)
I found this beautiful dress during a quick visit to the mall. I’m in love with the mixed patterns in shades of royal blue.
This beatiful rock formation is called “The Keyhole” and is located on Pfeiffer Beach. If you go there at sunset, the light of the sun will shine through, illuminate the hole and create an image of a golden door.
Be sure to check out Big Sur Bakery when you’re driving down Highway 1. They’re highly known for their freshly baked Almond Crossiants. Be sure to get there early because they sell out quick. If you’re thinking of staying longer, take a seat on their outdoor benches and order off their expanded menu
I decided to stay at an Airbnb over a hotel because it was much more affordable. I just recently starting using Airbnb as a source for lodging and every experience I’ve had has been a great one. My stay with Kat in her immaculate home was no different. Kat provided a stay within the likes of a five star hotel without the inclusion of the 200+ guests that I could be staying with elsewhere. Kat settled me in a room with a plush queen bed (I thought I was sleeping on a cloud), gourmet snacks, a bottle of sake, and a balcony overlooking the redwoods.
However, I felt the true experience came from my interaction with her. Kat was so welcoming and so kind. Not only did she send me home with flower seeds, but she sent me home with words of wisdom that gave me a new lease on life. Cultivating new friendships in unexpected ways is what I live for.
