Looking for Latin fare for brunch? I’d recommend checking out El Techo de Lolinda, located on 21st and Mission. Although recognized for their dishes with Argentinian flare, El Techo lures in guests with their rooftop views of San Francisco.
When you first arrive, be sure to check in with a host standing at a podium in front of the entrance, who will most likely put you on a waiting list. They offer text messages that alerts you of your table if you want to galavant around the neigborhood a bit. Once your table is ready, an elevator takes you to the rooftop where the laughter and chatter of the crowd fills the air.
Amongst the dishes, my girlfriend and I chose the Shrimp Cerviche, Empanadas, Jicama Salad, and Guacomole with chips. Their dishes are small so if you have an appetite, this place probably wouldn’t work for you. The Cerviche was refreshing and had decent chunks of shrimp. The Jicama Salad stood out because of their delicious lime vinegarette. I wished they added more to the salad. I’ll definitely be asking for more on the side the next time I’m there. The highlight of the meal for me were the Carne Empanadas, deliciously crispy and filled with beef, potatoes and raisins. The dish comes with a dipping sauce which appeared to be made with olive oil mixed with a green vegetable. Whatever it was, it was a great addition to the dish.
If the weather permits, I recommend that you grab a few friends, head over to the Mission, and check this rooftop restaurant out! With San Francisco’s Indian Summer, I’m sure you’ll find plenty of opportunities to go this Autumn.
