With Valentine’s Day around the corner, the girls and I decided to meet up for a photo shoot featuring V-Day inspired looks. We did the same thing last year and quickly decided to make it an annual affair.
For those who don’t know, Galentine’s Day is a holiday to celebrate love for your gal pals. The hilarious Park and Rec’s character, Leslie Knope, was the one to put this holiday on the map. Ever since then, girlfriends, both single and taken, have been coming together on February 13th to celebrate their friendship. The great thing about Galentine’s Day is that there’s no conformity; you can celebrate it however way you like. Ways in which I’ve seen girlfriends celebrate Galentine’s Day are brunches, parties, happy hour, or simple gift exchanges.
I love celebrating this holiday because your girlfriends are the best dates you can ever have. You can eliminate the angst of meeting someone new, not have a filter when you’re conversing, or worry about drinking too much on the first date. And you know you’ll get a follow up text the next morning. But unlike any other regular dinner date with your girlfriends, Galentine’s Day allows you to show your love and appreciation for the friendships that you have, both old and new.
I was fortunate to meet my two blogger besties, Kara of The Whimsy Soul and Zoha of Posh to Ganache, at a fashion event almost two years ago. We’re so different from one another, yet we vibe so well. I’m seriously blessed to have these two in my life.
How are you celebrating Valentines Day this year?
