WOW–is it really 2017 already?! Seems like this year has gone by with a blink of an eye. But you know what they say: “Time flies by fast when you’re having fun!” This past year has been a great year for me. There have been positive changes in all aspects of my life: social, financial, and spiritual. I’ve grown in so many ways. But of course, growth is nothing without some obstacles along the way. You really don’t know what success is until you’ve experienced failure.
I’d be lying if I said I didn’t experience some pit stops in my blogging career. It’s hard not be discouraged when you feel like your blog has plateaued, and you’re struggling to provide content for your blog. With the countless nights of writer’s block, scheduling photo shoots and doing so while maintaining a full-time job, sometimes you just want to throw in the towel. But whenever I feel like I want to, I stop, pause and reflect on what’s important–growth. I try to acknowledge my growth, whether it’s big or small. I try not to stay fixated on what I should have already achieved, and have gratitude for what I have been able to achieve.
In 2016, I’ve learned to take initiative. I stopped giving myself excuses why I couldn’t do things (travel, try something new, meet people) and started holding myself accountable for what I haven’t done. I started to take action and pursue things that I’ve always wanted to do. And to help me stay motivated, I surrounded myself with like-minded people. People who wanted make new experiences.
Because I feel like 2016 was a great year for personal growth, I wanted to close it out with a dress that compliments me and my personality. Because I feel more confident in who I am, I wanted to wear a dress that makes me feel confident. A ball gown seemed to fit the bill.

I absolutely love this Cythia Rowley woodland dress and I love that they have it in petite! I love the high-low cut, the fitted top and the bell skirt. The dress is made with floral brocade which creates amazing texture.
