After a busy week at work and slowly recovering from a cold, I’m glad to say that I’m finally home for the holidays. Although my hometown, Sonoma, is a one hour commute away, I don’t come out here often enough. I always find myself committing to weekend plans that restrain me from leaving the city. I get homesick sometimes, but there’s something about the holiday season that gets me extra homesick.
During the days counting down to Christmas, the traffic in the city slows down, pedastrians slowly dissipates, and the city becomes hush. The last thing anyone wants is to be in a deserted city for Christmas. For me, my ideal Christmas is being in the cozy home that I grew up in, laughing to my dad’s jokes, and watching tv with my mom and younger sister. That is my comfort zone.
What I also enjoy is getting away from the city and coming home to a small town. Sonoma is quiant, and is the perfect getaway without going far away. In Sonoma, you get beautiful vineyards that changes colors through the season. During this time of year, the vineyards take on a beautiful golden orange-red. There’s plenty of vineyards that has lost it’s leaves due to the cold weather, but my sister and I found a vineyard that is tucked away and still rich with color.
I hope everyone has the oportunity to be home for the holidays. If not, I hope you’re enjoying the company of family, a significant other, or close friends. Merry Christmas 🙂
