With Thanksgiving around the corner, it’s easy to stress out about creating the perfect dining table decor. But I’m here to tell you, first and foremost, DON’T STRESS OUT. And that putting a Thanksgiving dining table centerpiece can be very easy and affordable! Below are my top 5 tips to creating the perfect thanksgiving centerpiece that your friends and family will gawk over! They’ll think you slaved away creating an immaculate ambiance when it really took you 30 minutes!
- Incorporate floral and greenery – It’s the perfect way to makes your centerpiece look expensive for less than $20! First pick a color palette you want to work with. Usually I lean towards colors that reflects the current season. So if you’re creating a thanksgiving centerpiece, pick warm autumn tones like soft greens, oranges and reds. For this year’s color palate, I wanted to stick to rustic tones with a touch of gold details. So I purchased batches of eucalyptus which you can grab from the grocery store for $10 or less. Most of the time my floral takes up 50% of the centerpiece, so when you decide which florals you want to incorporate you’re pretty much halfway done!
- Lay down a runner – A runner is the perfect foundation to lay your decor down. And this doesn’t mean that you have to purchase an expensive runner. You can create a runner from things you have around the house. For example, silk or plaid scarves or left over fabric draped down the table are perfect for creating an affordable centerpiece. Wooden planks and dollies are also great example of household items that would great as a runner. For my centerpiece I used a burlap runner which you can purchase for $8!
- Add pumpkins and squashes – I love incorporating pumpkins on a thanksgiving table. I feel it symbolizes a time to feast and break bread with loved ones. Make it fun by mixing up pumpkins with squashes in a variety of shapes and colors. Or go for something more neutral and uniform like I did by adding small white pumpkins.
- Light candles to create ambiance – Dining over lit candles creates a warm experience. And placing candles in various heights creates depth in the table setting.
- Personalized place cards – Sentimental stuff goes a long way. Your guest will appreciate seeing their name on a place card.
