Whether I’m traveling overseas or going on a road trip, traveling with comfort is important to me. But I don’t think you should compromise style for comfort. There’s plenty of functional and fashionable pieces that you can incorporate into your travel outfit. Below are my little tricks of the trade to ensure you’ll be travel comfy while still looking fly AF.
1. A cozy coat – When I’m traveling by plane, I try to minimize my carry on. I avoid bringing a blanket or a pillow. But we all know that planes can get insanely chilly. That’s why I make sure to bring a cozy coat that I can easily throw over me when the temperature gets low. For example, the coat I’m wearing is from Brandy Melville and made with wool. It’s so warm and cozy, and I can effortlessly doze right off the sleep in it.
2. Sweatpants or leggings – Ladies, don’t be scared to wear lounge wear to the airport. The key to making it look like you’re not heading straight to bed is by pairing it with structured pieces. The cropped leggings I’m wearing are from Comm-Ci (get 20% off with my code ‘Justina20’). They’re so comfortable, and can be worn for either leisure or fashion. Because I’m wearing something form fitting on the bottom, I went for something flowy on top. If you’re opting for sweatpants, wear something structured on top like a leather jacket, blazer or a sophisticated top. This makes the outfit look more polished.
3. Wear breathable fabrics – Just in case it gets warm on the plane, you want to wear fabrics that allow circulation underneath your jacket. Fabrics you want to choose from are cotton, linen, chambray, blends, and rayon.
4. Minimize accessories – Leave the statement earrings at home. The last thing you want are large tassel earrings jabbing into your skull while you’re trying to sleep on your flight. Also, you don’t want to be that one person holding up the TSA line because you have to take off all your midi-rings and wrist bangles. I try to keep it simple by wearing diamond studs and a silver watch. And don’t forget big sunglasses to hide those eye bags when you get off the plane.
5. Fresh sneaks or ballet flats – Leave the Manolos at home ladies! You’ll regret wearing them when you’re running to the terminal before the gate closes. Keep it fly and fresh by rocking some sneakers. My go-to are my all-white Air Max. Another option are ballet flats that you can easily slip on and off at the TSA station.
