Nestled in a vineyard in Napa County is an adorable boutique hotel called The Setting Inn. It’s perfectly situated between Napa and Yountville, allowing visitors the convenience of enjoying both small cities.
Upon checking in, I was immediately fell in love with the quaintness of the hotel. The hotel is a farmhouse built in 1901, and is surrounded by gorgeous landscape and vineyards. Pure paradise for a couple looking to escape from San Francisco.
The Setting Inn has a few room options: Signature Queen, Deluxe King, and a Premiere Two-bedroom Suite for a small group. My boyfriend and I stayed in the Signature Queen room. We were really impressed with the modern amenities. The lock on the door is a touch screen which requires a code to enter. The layout of the room was expansive. There was a kitchenette, a fireplace, a sitting area that led to the bed, and a long patio. The bathroom featured a soaking tub, walk-in shower and a double vanity sink. The bathroom was almost as big as the bedroom!
Once we settled in, we wasted no time in popping a bottle of sparkling wine (which they so kindly provided) and enjoyed a glass before heading to our dinner reservation in Yountville. It was nice to know that Yountville was a 10 minute drive down the road, so we didn’t feel rushed.
We had dinner in Ad Hoc, a Thomas Keller restaurant located right on the downtown strip of Yountville. The restaurant has a four-course set menu that changes daily. If you’re unfamiliar with Thomas Keller, you need to get familiar with him today! Keller is a well-known chef most recognized for his Michelin Star restaurant, The French Laundry. He has a collection of restaurants in Yountville and beyond, which includes Ad Hoc + Addendum. I recommend checking out a Thomas Keller establishment when visiting Yountville.
With stomaches full and our hearts happy, we headed back to our hotel room for a night cap, which included glasses of wine and a game of Scrabble next to the fireplace.
When I woke the following morning, one thing was on my mind: BATHTUB! I darted to the bathroom and prepared a bubble bath for myself. Just when I thought my morning couldn’t get better, I heard a knock at the door while I was relaxing in the tub. To our surprise, sitting on the floor was a crate filled with fruits, juice, coffee, and fresh baked pastries from Bouchon Bakery, another well-known Thomas Keller establishment.
We grabbed our complimentary breakfast and brought it out to our porch which overlooked the property. While we munched our French pastries and guzzled our orange juice, we took in the gorgeous view of the vineyard. Our morning was off to an excellent start.
After breakfast we gathered our things for check-out. But before leaving the property for the weekend, we knew we had to have a wine tasting of their wine collection, which is available on the property. That’s right — the hotel has their own collection of wines! Established in 2015, The Setting is collection of luxury wines created by winemaker, Jesse Katz.
We had the pleasure of having David, our host, walk us through our private outdoor wine tasting. We sat in an outdoor gazebo besides the barn, surrounded by vineyards. I love that we had an option to wine taste at our hotel, a very rare amenity among hotels. Unfortunately the barn was closed to gatherings due to COVID. But, otherwise, the barn is an adorable setting for mingling with fellow guests. There’s supplies for dinner, games for entertainment and couches for hanging out.
After wine tasting, we had to say goodbye to The Setting Inn. We had a great time during our stay and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this gem to family and friends.
