Maintaining an exercise routine can be tough for me. I get overwhelmed with daily responsibilities, and, by the end of the day, I just want to kick back on the couch with a good movieand a slice of pepperoni pizza (pizza whore over here). When I go on a workout hiatus, I definitely feel the repercussions. I feel less energized, more bloated, and less toned. That’s when I need to kick myself in the butt and reboot my exercise regime. Just recently, I’ve been using the Misfit Ray to keep track of my steps, my distance and calories I’ve burned. It helps me stay on top of my daily goals.
But a healthy lifestyle is not achievable without proper sleep. Not receiving adequate sleep has negative effects on the body: rapid aging, impaired judgement, depression, and poor cognition, to name a few. Misfit Ray tracks sleeping patterns so you can make sure you’re getting the proper sleep at night. The style of the Misfit Ray also makes wearing this fitness tracker very fashionable. The cylinder comes in different colors, and you can switch out the bands to match your outfit of the day. I personally love the rose gold Misfit Ray. Living a healthy lifestyle has never came easy for me. For as long as I could remember, dealing with my weight has been a struggle. Since I was a child, I’ve always been dubbed “the fat one” in the family. I was often teased by my peers in school. By high school, I was tired of being overweight and wanted to do something about it. I remember going on a scale and reading 145lbs. I was appalled (that’s a lot for a 5’0 gal!). That’s when I started my fitness journey. I tried every diet that was in trend. I went to the gym, but stopped because I lost motivation. It was a never ending roller coaster ride. Whenever my fitness regime declined, my weight would follow suit and I would find myself back at square one.
Now at age 28, I am happy to say that I’m a size 4 and 128lbs. Do I have the ideal waist size? No. Do I have curves? Yup. Do I wish I had bigger boobs? Heck yes. Despite all this, I’ve learned to stay focused on being happy and healthy in the inside, versus trying to be ideal on the outside. I constantly fluctuate between 120lbs and 130lbs, and I’m okay with that.
Instead of focusing on weight loss (which is a definitive plus, but not my prime objective), I focus on working out for the following reasons:
— It’s therapeutic – Having a stressful day? Put that energy into your workout! It’s the perfect way to vent. If I’m having a tough week, I love jogging while blasting a badass playlist through my headphones. And with the endorphins flowing, you can’t help but to be in a happy mood.
— It’s a chance to try something new – If you’re like me, then you hate redundant workouts. Luckily, I live in a city that has an abundance of fitness studios. It’s fun to jump around and try something that might strike my interest. Mixing up your routine can make exercising much more enjoyable.
— It’s a confidence booster – It’s time to stop focusing on numbers and start focusing on accomplishments! Be proud that you’ve finished your workout! When I finish my workout I feel super elated. Like, I DID THAT. And you should feel that way too! Once you start feeling good on the inside, it starts to show on the outside.
