The last time I incorporated “baby blues” into my wardrobe was back in high school. It was the early 2000s when matching accessories was the key to a perfect outfit. My favorite color at the time was baby blue so of course I had to match all of my accessories together. I wore a light blue fedora, a light blue top, a light blue wrap leather belt, and completed it with light blue boots. I thought I was “Jenny From the Block.” I know what you’re thinking: biggest fashion faux pas. Since then, I’ve steered away from light blues and stuck with neutrals. Of course, my fashion sense has evolved since then and I’m exploring more color palettes that compliment my skin tone.
I was surprised to find baby blue to be a popular trend this Spring/Summer. My first thoughts was, “How can this color look good on an adult” and “How can this color be high fashion?” My memories flashback to when I wore a baby blue velour suit. But I’m starting to find that Baby Blue can be incorporated into a modern look. The way it’s introduced into an outfit can make this “cutesy” color into a utterly cool look. Adorn this color on a moto jacket, textured dress, or structured satchel.
The way I introduced Baby Blue was through this gorgeous midi dress from ASOS. I’m loving the cold shoulder trend right now. The high neck and the ruffle accent adds elegance and romance to the dress. The dress is made out of cotton. The great thing about this fabric is that it’s stretchable. Bad thing is that the fabric is thin so it can be hard to find the right undergarment. Make sure the undergarment is thin and hugs your body nicely.
Have you incorporated baby blues into your wardrobe and how are you wearing it?
